DESCRIPTION

SYNTAX IT Group is seeking a qualified and skilled IBM AS/400 Software Developer to join our team.

In this position, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality software development and consulting services to clients in the insurance sector.

You will work on the IBM i (AS/400) platform, leveraging your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to develop, enhance, and support business applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain iSeries (AS/400) applications using COBOL, RPG and CL.
  • Analyze and understand business requirements to create efficient and scalable software solutions.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing applications and provide timely resolutions.
  • Implement modernization solutions to integrate iSeries with open environments and cloud infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Document software specifications, technical designs, and testing procedures.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  • Participate in code and design reviews to maintain a high standard of quality.
  • Continuously update technical knowledge and skills related to IBM i technologies on DevOps and Modernization.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • M.Sc. degree will be considered a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in iSeries (AS/400) development, including COBOL, RPG and CL.
  • Experience in the Insurance industry is a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of iSeries tools and utilities, such as PDM, SEU, RLU, and Query/400.
  • Experience with SQL, DB2/400 database design, and data access methods.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall.
